Who Says We Can't Dream BIG? Volunteers needed!

Due to the $25,000 grant awarded by the San Luis Valley Regional Council of the El Pomar Foundation and generous local donations our dream of a one-of-a kind Event and Recreation Complex in Creede, CO,  until now just in our hearts and minds, is brought to life on paper, and is therefore one step closer to becoming reality. The grant request sought funding to develop a schematic conceptual design of the Upper Rio Grande Events and Recreation Complex - design work needed to advance the next phase  in fundraising efforts. The request explained our intent to provide year-round, all-age recreation, learning opportunities as well as cultural, arts and  entertainment events. In addition we emphasized our commitment to a design that would compliment our landscape and heritage, and include environmentally responsible features.

The Board and its advisors worked closely with the award-winning architectural firm 51% Studios to articulate the vision for the Events and Recreation Complex. The result? A portfolio of studies, plans and vivid drawings that help us communicate our ideas in a tangible way. This newsletter includes a few of these illustrations, so you can begin to get a feel for our vision.

Now we need YOUR help to take the next step as we have gained the support of the Timber Framers Guild, a non-profit organization dedicated to the art and science of timber framing, to erect our first, multipurpose building in 2014. Volunteers as well as donations are needed for this exciting project. Call us at 719-658-2376 to find out how YOU can help!
